Jill Tavlin Swartz
Professional Coach

With over 30 years of experience as a lawyer and leader in the public sector, Jill brings a deep understanding of high-stakes environments, complex teams, and mission-driven leadership. Her coaching practice is grounded in almost three decades of real-world experience, strategic insight, and a lifelong commitment to helping others grow professionally and personally.
Throughout her legal career, she held senior roles at both the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security. For nearly a decade, she served as a first-line supervisor, leading legal teams and overseeing complex cases and operations. As a program-wide manager, she developed and led a national in-house training program for attorneys, designed to build core competencies and leadership capacity across the organization. Mentoring has always been central to her work—from new lawyers to new managers, she has helped individuals navigate challenges and grow into confident, capable professionals.
In recent years, Jill expanded her impact through coaching, working closely with first-line supervisors and emerging leaders to help them build confidence, develop executive presence, and lead with purpose. She completed several accredited coaching programs and is currently pursuing certification through the International Coaching Federation (ICF). She holds a certificate in Strategic Planning from Georgetown University and is trained to administer and interpret 360-degree feedback assessments.
Beyond her professional background, she has long been committed to civic leadership and community impact. In her community, Jill served as President of the local high school PTSA and chaired a city-wide Committee on Quality of Education, working to elevate educational outcomes for all students. Nationally, she serves on the board of the National Council of Jewish Women, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to advancing social justice through grassroots advocacy and leadership development. She also sits as a board director of the University of Miami School of Law Alumni Association.
Today, Jill is busy coaching executives, first-line leaders, and mission-driven professionals who are looking to grow, realign, or recover after a leadership misstep. She focuses on helping clients enhance their decision-making, improve communication, strengthen team alignment, and lead through complexity with clarity and authenticity. Whether you're preparing for your next act, facing a leadership challenge, or ready to take your impact to the next level, Jill Swartz Performance Design is here to guide your journey with experience, empathy, and strategic support.
